Zoom A test day for the car and its drivers

The Quifel-ASM Team is already in Le Mans, France, to take part in the Official Test Day for the Le Mans 24 Hours, which is due to take place on Sunday, 1st June.

Before the race, the drivers and teams are vying for the best times, as a good result is a sign of things to come in the tough race that is represented by the most famous 24-hour event of the world motor racing circuit.

Miguel Pais do Amaral, French driver Oliver Pla and Guy Smith will be at the wheel in this close-run test race, which is a true projection of the real race. The experienced British driver has already won at Le Mans and frequently takes part in the American Le Mans Series Championship, a counterpart of the European championship held in some US states. His involvement boosts the hope for a good result for the team, driving the Lola B05/40 AER in the LMP2 class.

Teams' participation in this test day also serves as qualification for drivers to take part in the race itself. Miguel Pais do Amaral has already qualified, having taken part in the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2007. It is now up to Oliver Pla and Guy Smith to drive a minimum 10 laps of the circuit.

As well as driver qualification, this official test day will allow the team to tune the Lola B05/40 AER for the long straights on the French track, where high speed is the key but in which slow areas require the car to be well-balanced.
